Most of our kids have loved going to summer camp. For the last two summers, Rebecca has also been a C.I.T.(Camper-in-Training/Counselor-in-Training). This is a program for senior high students where they can work at the camp helping in the kitchen, doing general cleanup, assisting the counselors, acting in skits, working in the snack shop, playing with the campers, etc. It is a great way to practice leadership skills that will help them like getting along well with others, leading a group, solving unexpected challenges that pop up, and being responsible for tasks. Not only that, it is also a great way to earn volunteer hours if you need them for college scholarships. Many summer camps have a similar program available. So if this is something you might be interested in, contact your local summer camp.
