The hardest part of any project is the starting. It is so easy to get stuck in the dreaming stage or the planning stage that we never get to the doing phase. I’m not sure why this happens so often. Maybe it’s because fear is keeping us from moving forward, so we convince ourselves that we still have just a little bit more work to do before we can start. It is important to plan and prepare, but don’t get stuck there so that you never begin. I’ve heard so many people say, “I’ve thought about doing ______,” or “One day, I’m gonna ________.” We even struggled with this when starting up BeDaring.Life. We have been working on it for a long time, but we could have spent months longer working on it, in order to get it just right.
There’s a saying that goes, “It’s easier to steer a moving ship than one that’s sitting on the docks.” If the captain of a ship wants to move in a different direction, it is impossible for him to do that if the ship is anchored at the dock. However, it is not difficult at all to move a ship that is going somewhere. What are you wanting to accomplish? Are you wanting to get better at a sport? Learn how to play an instrument? Make some new friends? Start a small business? Don’t just sit around waiting for something to happen. Get moving and start making things happen!
