Have you ever heard about the confidence-competence loop? I had never heard of this concept until about a month or so ago. But learning about it has really excited me because it helped me understand how to better help myself and my teens learn better and become more confident!
Research has shown that the more competent a person becomes, the more confident they will be. And the loop just keeps going. This new confidence will then lead the person to being more willing to learn which will give them even more competence. Do you see what happens? It just keeps going! So more competence leads to more confidence which again leads to more competence.
I am excited about this because it shows that teaching your teen skills will lead them to more confidence and help them to be better able to learn in general. So if you want to hear the entire discussion that Hudson and I had about the confidence-competence loop, check out this week’s podcast!
Parents, would love for you to join our free private Facebook group Raising Confident Teens Community! We are a fun group of parents/grandparents/mentors whose goal is to encourage each other in this parenting journey.
