Just because you are alive doesn’t mean that you are entitled to a great life.  Many people today have this mentality that they deserve good grades, great relationships, and a career they love with little effort. Then when any little thing comes up they blame others. Sometimes we have a legitimate reason why we did or did not do something, but most times it is just an excuse.

We as humans seek to make ourselves look good.  It is a natural inclination to blame everyone or everything except ourselves when we mess up. I even find myself doing that sometimes. But if we want to be leaders, we need to take responsibility.

You are 100% responsible for your life.  That can be a hard pill to swallow, but it can also be very freeing.  It means that you can accomplish amazing things if you do the hard work and put the effort in.  So next time that you are tempted to tell the teacher why your dog ate your homework or tell your boss why you are late, step up and take responsibility.

Next time we will discuss what to do when things happen that are beyond our control.
